Wilmington, DE Raised amongst the sounds of gospel music flowing through his childhood home, Denzel (born Denzel Merritt) is a singer, engineer and rapper (of the Delaware known music group Loose Cannon Lifestyle (LCL) in pursuit of musical success. His journey began at the young age of nine, when a solo in a school recital showcased a budding talent. In the fourth grade, the artist’s writing chops appeared unexpectedly. He had, and continues to have, a distinct ability to put a unique spin on lyrics and melodies to make something that is entirely his own. From there, a mad love affair with music began, which led the now 25-year-old to pursue a career in music with full enthusiasm.

Denzel’s music is unique; a fusion between modern hip hop and old school sounds, vaguely reminiscent of the 90’s. His latest project, a single off his upcoming EP, The Come Up, is titled “Cobra,” and will soon be dropped on all digital platforms, followed by the release of a music video. The artist describes the track as a “fun, get hype” song. Denzel opens with a real life experience, having just had his Play Station stolen the night before, he drops the relatable anecdote into the first verse of his song. The project is a collaboration between Denzel and KDN Beats.

The artist reaches for the stars, with lofty goals for his music career. Denzel explains his dreams of becoming a household name in the hip hop scene, “Big picture? I want to be successful as an entrepreneur. I want to be known for being a great thinker, for having built a brand.”

“Cobra” is now available in every digital music platform. Keep your eyes peeled for Denzel’s upcoming ventures, which will drop throughout summer 2016.
